1 Degree
Yes, it really is one degree outside my house in Ohio. This is the the coldest weather I've ever seen with wind chills at -37 degrees. I bundled up from head to toe to walk two houses to my neighbor's this morning for a cinnamon roll and coffee. (Thank goodness for friends and kindness.) I made it swiftly back to my home after our short visit.
There are few that brave these elements, even the US Postal Service has suspended delivery today in many areas. I keep thinking to myself this would be a great day to write, but I find a laundry list of other things that begin to steal my writing time. Preparing food, long overdue phone calls, website duties, tidying up the house . . . This is where a sacred practice must come in. A habit of sitting down with one's thoughts on a consistent basis where it simply feels wrong to miss. I confess, I don't have this habit now. I go through phases where it is my passion and other times writing gets crowded out by the life duties I have acquired and I seem to be okay with that progression. And then I question more and more often if writing is in my end game. Only time will tell.
Time has all the answers, but we have the ability to make time reflect our priorities.
Be warm and safe.
